Hobbies: I love to cook and am always up for trying new recipes! My kids and I have a lot of dance parties. I also love reading, kickboxing, yoga, being outside in nature and spending time with family and friends.
Guilty Pleasure(s): Chocolate and ice cream...and watching Fixer Upper...ok, and looking for fun new recipes on Pinterest.
Random Fact(s): When I was a kid, my dream job was to be a back-up dancer for Paula Abdul. I also have no shame in the fact that "Ice, Ice Baby" is totally my jam. Pretty much my go-to song for karaoke.
Most Embarrassing Moment: I worked as a campus tour guide in college. During a freshman orientation weekend, when there are LOTS of visitors on campus and your tour group is usually 20-25 people, I was walking backwards, talking about the various dorms, and of course talking with my hands, and there was a person at the back of the group trying to get my attention. Just as I asked him what his question was, I backed right into a light pole- hard- and almost knocked the wind out of me. He responded with, "Just wanted to let you know that a pole was coming up." Several tour groups saw me back into the pole. It was a standing joke after that day that I needed to bring along a rearview mirror to hold up during my tours.
Favorite Famous Quote: I love looking up quotes for inspiration, encouragement and to challenge me. I don't really have a favorite, but here a few from Mother Teresa that have rattled around my heart and mind for awhile:
“Never be so busy as not to think of others.”
― Mother Teresa, The Joy in Loving: A Guide to Daily Living
“Go out into the world today and love the people you meet. Let your presence light new light in the hearts of people.”
― Mother Teresa
"Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own home. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor . . . Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting."
― Mother Teresa
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
― Dr. Seuss
